A Note from Jon Anderson

Giving Tuesday, a day that has become a powerful movement for generosity across the globe is just 10 days away. This season of giving is an ideal example of the transformative potential of people and organizations working together for the good of the community.

Collaboration Project Founder and Executive Director, Jon Anderson, shares some reflections on our Mission and Vision for the Dane County Church...

Wow, a lot has happened since we launched Collaboration Project.  I just finished watching our very first video filmed in early 2019. My first impression was, why didn’t someone tell me to trim my beard, and so few grey hairs!

But watching that video also helped me reflect on that last 3 1/2 years of ministry and see more clearly where God has been leading.

We started this work with the conviction that the disconnection among our churches in Dane County inhibits the ability of the Church to realize both the kind of wholeness and flourishing of our communities that God desires and the unity in Christ that Jesus prayed for.

By many measures, our city and churches remain siloed.  And yet, as I look back on all the amazing ways God is up to good work in our community, there are hopeful signs of movement and momentum.

In the last 3 1/2 years, Collaboration Project has worked with 150+ Dane County Churches – cultivating thousands of person-to-person connections – to create and strengthen relationships and help churches better serve the greater community.

Together, we have had the privilege to...

  • Seek Justice in our community by raising awareness and engagement around school partnerships, anti-trafficking work, and racial reconciliation. We are excited for the return of in-person Kingdom Justice Summit in March 2023.

  • Foster Unity across the Church through signature community service and prayer events.  Both For Dane, a weekend of service in our community, and United Week of Prayer logged hundreds of volunteer hours and saw substantial growth in impact this year.

  • Build Connections between churches and church leaders through partnerships like Awaken Dane and the launch of our NEW Ministry Coworking Space

  • Support the Health for over 200 clergy and church leaders through retreats and renewal events that encourage and inspire participants for the work of ministry.

There is still much work to do to realize the flourishing and wholeness of God’s shalom.  Our vision remains the same – to see the Dane County Church united in transformational love, a love that is felt and seen, so that God would be glorified and all people would flourish.

The last 3 1/2 years have been a journey we could not have anticipated.  Over the next several weeks we will be sharing stories that highlight the importance and impact of the broader Church working together for the good of the community.  I am excited – and I hope that you will be as well – for what the Spirit has in store as we move forward into the future together..
