Co-Working Space Leads to Co-Working with Christ

In October of 2022, Collaboration Project opened its coworking and event space, and two of the first coworkers to sign up were Pastor Shannon and Colin. While they used smaller meeting rooms to start, eventually, they introduced themselves and their work in the main room. Colin became interested in Shannon’s work because he conducts church out of his home, and it's a kind of worship that Colin had read about but never witnessed before.

“He invited me to his home church, which was a beautiful experience and gave me a new conceptualization of the core competencies for Christ's Church body.”

As Colin and Shannon interacted in the coworking space over the weeks, Shannon explained to Colin that he was training to become a licensed counselor. While pastors are already confidants and guides, Shannon wanted to become a better counselor, not just to those within his congregation, but to people who are specifically looking for healing outside his church.

Colin, a Christian family law attorney, found this connection especially intriguing, considering many of his clients could use both emotional and legal support.

“Not only am I not qualified for that role, but it's also not healthy for people to build that kind of relationship with their attorney. Instead, I try to refer my clients to people who can be healthy therapeutic counselors and sustain the relationship.”

But counselors are often expensive, and getting on the books with one can often take a long time. Colin knew Pastor Shannon would be a competent, generous helper and that he would be a witness to the ultimate confidant, healer, and restorer, Jesus Christ, while enacting the skills and competencies he was acquiring in his schooling.

Colin shares that this has been just one of the blessings of working in the coworking space,

“Sometimes I'll pray for help in my Christian Legal Aid mission, and God will introduce me to a new servant of His who does the very thing I need help with. Other times when I'm feeling like a fish out of water, God will connect me with people who are looking for a little bit of help with one of the things I am an expert in.”

Please pray that more connections like these can be made and that this coworking and event space can continue to work alongside God in what He’s already doing to support, heal, and restore those in our county.
